How to Use an Older Version of Chrome with the Botsol Crawler Application

The Botsol Crawler application for Windows relies on the Chrome browser to automate tasks. Since Chrome updates frequently, newly released versions can sometimes cause compatibility issues.

To avoid such problems, Botsol allows you to run the crawler with an older version of Chrome—used only by the Botsol app. This will not affect your regular Chrome installation.
Here’s how to set it up:

Step 1 — Download Required Files

Unzip both files into a folder of your choice.

Step 2 — Open Advanced Options

  1. Launch the Botsol Crawler application.
  2. Select any crawler from the list.
  3. Go to Help → Advanced Options to open the settings window.

Step 3 — Set Chrome Portable

  1. In the Chrome Portable section, check Use Chrome Portable.
  2. Click Browse and select chrome-win32\chrome.exe from the extracted folder.
  3. Click Save within the Chrome Portable box.

Step 4 — Set ChromeDriver

  1. In the Chrome Driver section, click Browse and select the chromedriver-win32 folder you extracted.
  2. Click Update within the Chrome Driver box.

Step 5 — Clear Data & Restart

  1. In the Clear Chrome Data section, click Delete, It will auto restart the Botsol app.
  2. Restart the Botsol Crawler application if it does not auto restart.
From now on, Botsol Crawler will always use the specified older Chrome build—independent of the Chrome version installed on your system.
